The Digital Choice Photography Today Essay Example For Students

The Digital Choice: Photography Today Essay The camera is at the center of our society; video and pictures document our lives and we are consumed by the content they capture à - just look at social networking sites such as flickr and YouTube or news sites such as CNNs I-Report. While the decision used to be whether to purchase a film or digital camera, it is now more about what type of digital camera to buy. Mega pixels have reached (and surpassed) the quality you can get with a film camera, and there are now hundreds of different cameras on the market. The first type of digital camera is the single lens reflex (SLR); the SLR camera is known for producing higher quality prints and gives greater control to the photographer but is larger and more costly. The other type of camera is the à point and shoot which is smaller and less expensive, yet doesnt always deliver quality prints or the ability to control the settings as directly. So, whether youre an everyday Joe or a professional photographer, purchasing a camera can be a daunting task and it is important to understand the two main options à -the SLR or the à point and shoot camera and what each has to offer. We will write a custom essay on The Digital Choice: Photography Today specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now In the SLR digital camera, the viewfinder looks through the lens instead of on the body of the camera. This type of lens allows you to have greater control over the color, brightness and framing because you can define the image yourself. Generally this is the type of camera that serious photographers and artists have because it gives them greater control over quality of the image (Long). A low end digital SLR camera can be purchased for around $500 while the high end models can be more than $4,000. One example of a high end model is the Canon EOS 1D Mark III which boosts 10-megapixel continuous shooting with low noise, highly customizable settings (with weather sealing) and a 3-inch LCD screen and retails anywhere from $4146 to $4510 (cnet.com). There are also additional costs with this type of camera such as different types of lenses that are each sold separately. Also, because of the size of the camera you will need to buy a quality camera bag to protect your investment. The digital à point and shoot camera has preset or automatically adjusted controls for things such as focus, speed, lighting and frame. The lens is attached to the body of the camera and usually includes an LCD screen as the only viewfinder. The à point and shoot camera is quiet (no loud shutter sounds) and provides great flexibility such as rotating viewfinders and small size. While it has been associated with low quality images in the past there have been significant improvements in the higher end models that rival the quality of film and digital SLR. You can find a good quality à point and shoot camera for as little as $100, while the high performance models, such as the Canon PowerShot G7, retails between $499 and $897 (cnet.com). The digital à point and shoot are also generally smaller and sturdier, so they are easily portable and make it effortless to quickly take a snapshot without having to adjust any settings. A digital SLR camera is a better option if you are a serious photographer who needs to have more flexibility and control over how the image is captured à - you will need to understand the different settings and manually adjust them to capture the perfect image (Long). For people who have past experience with traditional 35mm cameras the transition to a SLR will be a natural one as they share many of the same features. While for those that have never used a camera before, the digital à point and shoot is the better option (Dunn). The digital SLR is also larger and requires accessories such as lenses while the à point and shoot camera will allow you to easily capture the moments of your life (birthday parties, sporting events, etc) with the preset controls and small size. Another difference between the two is cost. The à point and shoot can be purchased at a lower price than the digital SLR. .uc1f9e6da26e9e98acda682e0e7f6b2ba , .uc1f9e6da26e9e98acda682e0e7f6b2ba .postImageUrl , .uc1f9e6da26e9e98acda682e0e7f6b2ba .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .uc1f9e6da26e9e98acda682e0e7f6b2ba , .uc1f9e6da26e9e98acda682e0e7f6b2ba:hover , .uc1f9e6da26e9e98acda682e0e7f6b2ba:visited , .uc1f9e6da26e9e98acda682e0e7f6b2ba:active { border:0!important; } .uc1f9e6da26e9e98acda682e0e7f6b2ba .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .uc1f9e6da26e9e98acda682e0e7f6b2ba { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .uc1f9e6da26e9e98acda682e0e7f6b2ba:active , .uc1f9e6da26e9e98acda682e0e7f6b2ba:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .uc1f9e6da26e9e98acda682e0e7f6b2ba .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .uc1f9e6da26e9e98acda682e0e7f6b2ba .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .uc1f9e6da26e9e98acda682e0e7f6b2ba .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .uc1f9e6da26e9e98acda682e0e7f6b2ba .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .uc1f9e6da26e9e98acda682e0e7f6b2ba:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .uc1f9e6da26e9e98acda682e0e7f6b2ba .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .uc1f9e6da26e9e98acda682e0e7f6b2ba .uc1f9e6da26e9e98acda682e0e7f6b2ba-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .uc1f9e6da26e9e98acda682e0e7f6b2ba:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Medici Patronage EssayThere are no storage limitations on either camera because they both generally can accommodate external storage, such as a 12GB SD card, that holds thousands of images. Another common feature is that the higher end cameras for both types generally have built-in WiFi, meaning that you can upload your images to your favorite social networking site from anywhere that has a WiFi connection. Both types of cameras will allow you capture an image, so the deciding factor is really what kind of image you want to capture, how easily you want to capture it, and how much you want to drain your bank account to do it.

Free sample - Access to Law. translation missing

Access to Law. Access to LawFreedom is not worth having if it does not connote freedom to err. It passes my comprehension how human beings, be they so ever experienced and able can delight in depriving other human beings of that precious right. You must not lose hope in humanity. Humanity is an ocean, if few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty. (Mahatma Gandhi). Throughout human history mighty voices indeed have emerged to grace and offer fulfillment and hope to those struggling under the yoke of suppression. Their legacies will shape and impact our lives for decades to come. If freedom means doing what we should rather than to do whatever we want, who decides what we should do and does any man have the right to impose that on others? (Pope John Paul) There is no point in one having freedom if it fails to represent freedom for all in an equal manner. How is it that people are ever so clever, yet enjoy taking away another’s right? You should not lose hope in the human race, as there are so many of us and we are not all the same. We are like a bag of apples; picking one bad apple from the bag does not mean that they are all bad. Throughout history, there have been many role models who have fought for equality and hope for many deprived people. They have become legends and have had a strong impact on many people’s lives today. Could it be that we as humans have never been allowed to experience freedom without sacrificing the little that we contain. Initially I will look at Gandhi the Mahatma and analyze a bit of his history and the impact he has on the nation today. Further, I will be analyzing ones freedom and entitlement to it. Lastly I will give my views on being allowed to exercise their personal rights. Regarded as the father of hope, Gandhi the Mahatma is one of the most celebrated individuals who have played a major role in the fight for the less fortunate and minority in the society, giving inspiration by his words of wisdom and actions alike, Brown( 2001, P. 22) Wolpert ( 2004,p. 43). He was among the few respectable individuals who walked the talk. Though born in a wealthy Hindu family, Mahatma Gandhi lowered himself from the glory status that his birthright had placed on him to the â€Å"grass† level where the majority of the people occupied. He played a major role in advocating for the rights of the less fortunate in the society and he participated in war without any weaponry but with his words full of wisdom and people empowerment. One of his famous quotes relates with his general perception and believes on humanity. He presented his argument in the context of freedom. He famously said, â€Å"Freedom is not worth having if it does not connote freedom to err. It passes my comprehension how human beings, be they so ever experienced and able can delight in depriving other human beings of that precious right. You must not lose hope in humanity. Humanity is an ocean, if few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty† Erikson (2005, p. 77) Chadha (2007, 90). This is a question that one would ask, is everyone entitled to freedom? And what is freedom. Freedom can be looked at in various perspectives. Fundamentally we see that the system is designed in such a way that it segregates against others either based on their skin color or race and ethnicity, their position in society, religion, gender, age, and any other variable that a socio-economist might take into account when analyzing the social status of individuals. Here we see people expected to act and live in a given lifestyle that is acceptable to the given system or the code of conduct that governs a given society of community. Such defined code of operations clearly embeds mechanisms of dealing with cases of deviation from the norm. The argument of existence of freedom is one of the most debatable concepts in human life. We witness cases where the systems have very stringent rules such that people’s options are so limited such that whenever one does something considered to be out of the norm he or she is punished or sometimes expelled from the system. Most people have died as a result of doing things against the rules or code of ethics defined in any given system such incidences can really bring the question into further scrutiny on whether really freedom exists. I believe people should be allowed to exercise their personal rights and do what they want to do as long as the repercussions are within their area of jurisdiction. Such acts will lead to people learning from others mistakes and also device a mechanism of overcoming such challenges. It will be essential for every system to be open in such a way that the members are allowed to always challenge the status quo and also be able to positively criticize where possible. Existences of closed systems have promoted suffering among many members of the society and such acts have to be condemned. The legacies of the heroes like Mahatma Gandhi and many other advocates of human life is the living example that drives us to the believe that any system should be able to allow the citizens to exercise their right and thus the need for the creation of the fundamental environment that allows people to freely live whenever they want, however they want and with whoever they want as long as the choices do no breach other people’s freedom. Honoring Nursing Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Honoring Nursing - Assignment Example   Furthermore, they have to work on weekends, nights, holidays, giving them very little time to bring up their children or relate to their families. Dealing with sick people who are sometimes very violent together with the lonely environment has made nursing profession very persevering. This has called for the need to honoring nurses, since they are very kind and caring, and do their work with passion despite the dangers that they are exposed to. Interview The elements of therapeutic communication that I utilized are being realistic in my relationship with the interviewee. That is, avoiding judging or making assumptions about her behavior and that of the patients who were around, by allowing their personal identity. The other element was being emotionally mature in postponing satisfaction of my own personal needs in deference to those of the interviewee, by finding other sources to meet my needs, other than therapeutic relationships. The adaptations that were made to the communicat ion style to accommodate sensory deficits with the interviewee were speaking very closely to the nurse to ensure that she gets everything. Additionally, communication had to be in low tone to avoid disturbing the patients who need to rest. Since the nurse was on duty, I had to follow her to various work stations to avoid shouting as well as ensuring that he hears and answers each of my questions well. To establish the foundation for helping the relationship in which the interviewee feels comfortable in sharing, I first greeted the nurse, introduced myself, my names, name of my learning institution and my aim of interviewing her. I also asked her if she could mind helping interview her. All along, I had to look and be very friendly to her to create a friendly environment that could help in cooperation. The technique used to elicit professionalism was first to inform the nurse that the information she was going to give would be confidentially treated and therefore, it could not have a ny negative effects on his profession and career. To effectively start the interview, I started telling her about my experience, ambitions, and what I think about nursing as a nursing student. After this, she was eager to tell me the truth on areas of my deficits and where I had excessive hopes as a nursing student. This created a very conducive environment for me dig further into everything that I wanted to know. She became very eager to make everything very clear to me, so that I could know the reality in order to be well prepared (mentally, physically and psychologically) when my time comes. Entering into professional-student discussion with a current nurse in the interview role can be an intimidating experience. Maintaining professionalism at all times made me keep focused during the interview. As a student nurse, I ensure professionalism at all times my first of all ensuring that I was dressed like a nurse, low heeled shoes, and nursing students’ uniform. During the inte rview, I ensured that I did not ask any question that could give information related to a particular patient or person.

Plan of action - Maria Term Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Plan of action - Maria - Term Paper Example The scenario under consideration with Maria has caused a great deal of worry for the company because the point that is being raised by her is not essentially true. One shall believe that this is simply not the case here. This can be proven by the explanations given by the company because it believes very staunchly at how things could be corrected within Maria’s folds and what weaknesses have already been existent of late. Since she believes that she is being hard done by because of her Latin ancestry and that she is from a totally different race altogether, she has made up her mind in a very negative way. She must understand that this is simply not the case and the company asks of her to bring out something totally distinctive and diverse (Gregory 2003). The basic element of shortcoming within her professional undertaking is when she communicates with people, and this is quite visibly something to ponder deep into. Since she cannot communicate with people around her and her ac cent is not deciphered by people easily, she is being seen as someone who is hard to come by within the relevant scheme of things. This is indeed a very genuine reasoning that the company can give in its own defense, as the perception created by Maria is not acceptable at all.Maria has misunderstood things here. She has put the blame upon the company on a totally different tangent altogether. There is no reason why she should be blaming the company for her poor communication skills and traits that she has been displaying over a period of time. She believes that she is being maltreated as there is a bias within the company but this is not something that has been pondered upon deeply by the people who are sitting within the helm of affairs in the company. Maria must know that any company within the business world exists to satisfy not only the customers but its internal publics as well, which comprise of its own employees who are the most prized possessions that these companies can ev er have. When Maria says that the company is treating her in a shabby way, it is the bias which is reflected in her understanding and not the way in which work gets done within the domains of the organization in the long run (Kim 2002). What the company has to do in such a setting is to make Maria realize that she is in the wrong, and that she shall have to be treated fairly no matter what happens. However at the present, Maria has become disgruntled because she believes that she is being hard done by due to her color and Latin ancestry. The scenario could be avoided if the company took a more proactive approach and told Maria where she was lacking before announcing the promotions for the employees. This could have made the entire effort look genuine and there would not have been any resentment whatsoever. One shall see that Maria has had quite a number of problems in her capacity as an employee working for this company. She has been known to have a very difficult to understand acce nt where people ask her time and again as to what she really means. Apart from this, she is known to be one person who is quite often late and had tardiness issues. She also seems a bit loud and is aggressive on most of the occasions. This has made the task of Maria even more difficult because she does not believe that she is doing anything wrong. However, on the part of the company, there has been a mistake that they did not tell Maria beforehand where she was going wrong, and what she needed to do to set things right within her related domains. Due to her acrimonious activities within the company, she has not been considered for promotion which is indeed reflective of the company policy when it comes to promoting people every now and then. However this is

The Self In Interpersonal Communication Essay Example for Free

The Self In Interpersonal Communication Essay Sometimes I find it difficult to express myself, even to people who are close to me, especially when it comes to expressing my emotions. When a friend does something that irritates me or makes me angry, I just tend to keep silent and not talk about it. I feel mad at him, but I do not tell him, I try to deal with it on my own. Because of this, whatever he did to make me mad in the first place occurs again. I understand that I cannot really expect him to change his ways or to expect him to know that I am not happy with what he does. For example, I have this friend who I get along with really well except when it comes to food. I do not mind sharing my food, but we have known each other a long time that he no longer asks me if it is okay if he takes food from my plate. Sometimes he even eats my food before I do, and it really irritates me. I just let him at it, waiting for him to realize his bad manners, but he has not changed. It has put strain on our friendship, sometimes I raise my voice at him for seemingly no reason but as I look within me I know that it is because of the vent up feelings of how he is disregarding me. Now of course I realize that I should not wish him to change, instead I should change my ways. I end up feeling bad when I know he has no malice and bad intent. I should just tell him how he makes me feel when he takes my food without even asking me, and simply request him to be more considerate and respectful, he can just ask so we can share equally without anxiety.

Relative Reactivity of Anilines :: essays research papers

Relative Reactivity of Anilines Abstract: Various Anilines were tested with Br2/HBr solution, the products were crystallized and melting points attained to verify relative reactivity. My assignment, 2,4-Dibromoanisol, was prepared in a yield of 52% with a melting point of 55-58 C . Reaction: Mechanism: Procedure: Anisole (0.35mL, 0.0378mol) was obtained and placed in a pre-weighed 25 mL round bottom flask, along with 2.5 mL of glacial acetic acid and a magnetic stir bar. Then the reaction apparatus was assembled, the dry tube was charged with conc. sodium bi sulfate, the 25 mL round bottom was attached to the apparatus, and 5 mL of Br2/HBr mixture was obtained and placed in the round bottom. The reaction took place for 20 minutes. An orange liquid was obtained and placed in a 125 mL Erlenmeyer flask along with 25 mL of water and 2.5 mL of conc. Sodium bisulfate soln. The solution was then placed in an ice bath to precipitate and then the solid product was filter in a Buchner funnel. These crystals were then re-dissolved minimum amount of hot solvent (heptane) and recrystallized. Once a dry product was obtained, a melting point was established (2,4-Dibromoanisol mp 55-58 C) and percent yield was established (52%). Results: Through a melting point reading, it was determined that the product obtained was 2,4-Dibromoanisol mp 55-58 C. The products obtained by my partners, were determined to be: (p-bromoacetanilide mp 160-165 C) and (2,4,6 tribromoaniline, mp of 108-110 C) respectively. Discussion and Conclusions: Interpreting these results have concluded that relative reactivity of these three anilines in order of most reactive to least reactive go; Aniline > Anisole > Acetanilide. Aniline, has an NH2 , the most active substituent , and adds to any ortho/para position available on the ring. This data is confirmed with the product obtained, (2,4,6 tribromoaniline, mp of 108-110 C). As for anisole, it has a strongly activating group attached, OMe an alkoxy group, and it added in two of the three available spots, both ortho. The results conclude: (2,4-Dibromoanisol mp 55-58 C ). Acetanilide has a strong activating group attached, acylamino group, but this group is large and the ortho positions are somewhat hindered so the majority of the product obtained added at the para position, results conclude: (p-bromoacetanilide mp 160-165 C). Since all the substituents attached to the aromatic rings were activators the only products able to be obtained were ortho/para products .

Letter of complaint Essay

This year in school my son Shem has brought to my attention that â€Å"To Kill a Mockingbird† will no longer be included in the school curriculum, though I feel this is a poor decision and that â€Å"To Kill a Mockingbird† is an important classic novel to read in school and should be included in lessons once more. Although â€Å"To Kill a Mockingbird† has been commonly regarded as a ‘banned book’ for explicit language and racism it is very informative and a noteworthy example of coming of age, and the wrongness of racism and stereotypes. For example Atticus, a character in To Kill a Mockingbird, who was a very respectable man in his community, represents a black man in court during a very racist era, doing all that he could to prove he was innocent despite the color of his skin; this shows that not all of the topics regarding racism in the novel are negative. The poor language is also something that unfortunately children are already exposed to in everyday life. I feel that as long as they understand the wrongness of this language and do not continue to repeat it then it shouldn’t be of much concern. This langue it is important for children to be exposed to, to fully understand what life was like in the 1930’s. This novel was set in a very important time in American history and exposes old practices that young students may not be familiar with in a more enjoyable and memorable fashion; through the narrations of the character Scout. This may help the children learn more willingly and enjoyably rather than learning from a text book that does not give them as great of an idea of what it might be like for someone to live during that time period. Teachers are also able to teach students about dialect, figures of speech, allusions and other literary devices using this novel. The characters in it are very colorful and developed well as well making a lot of material for discussions about characters. To Kill a Mocking Bird has been ranked by British librarians even before the Bible as a book that every adult must read before dying. The adaptation of the book was also made into an Oscar-winning film which was released in 1962. The novel has became popular with time and the style of writing, the plot and characterization places it in the top 10 books that everyone should read, therefore as students are maturing I believe that they should read â€Å"To Kill a Mockingbird† and be able to analyze and dig deeper into the book with the guidance of teachers and peers during school. In conclusion I believe that â€Å"To Kill a Mockingbird† should be included in school curriculum because it shows that racism and stereo types are unjust and not always true, exposes children to important times in history and is a great example of literary devices and character development. Kind Regards,
